From the Executive Director:
New Energy Rising

Written by: George Draffan

Northwest Dharma Association is at a crossroads, in search of new leadership at a time of great success.

Around the world Buddhist practices of mindfulness, insight, contemplation and compassionate action are taking root in mental health, physical health, in education and the arts, in healing trauma, and in conflict resolution.

The Northwest contains one of the greatest concentrations of Buddhist lineages and cultures in world history.

Northwest Dharma Association has a great, time-tested mission: To support Buddhist teachings, practice, and community in the Northwest.

Our cutting-edge collaboration continues to develop programs serving teachers, students, organizations, professionals, families and communities. The association does this, as always, with the generous support of the community. And yet Northwest Dharma Association’s reliance on a few core volunteers and funders is unsustainable.

NWDA has room for more member temples and organizations, more occasional and regular volunteers, co-sponsors, supporters and donors. The organization also needs board members, office and event help, and new ideas and energy to ensure the association continues to evolve in the 21st century.

As the Dharma takes root in cultures in this region and around the world, it is essential to have a non-sectarian association to bring us together.
