Buddhist SculptureAn Invitation

The Northwest Dharma Association depends on the generosity of the Buddhist community to support its activities. The Association’s Member Groups make financial contributions, but most of our funding comes from individual donors. Please consider making a gift; it will be of great benefit. Contributions to NWDA are tax-deductible; our federal tax identification number is 94-3098029.

Become a Group Member

For over 30 years, NWDA has been the network connecting the Buddhist community across the Pacific Northwest. NWDA is an association of sanghas, temples, and groups just like yours. Group Members get their own profile in NWDA Directory, they can post their events in the Calendar, they can submit articles about their group to the Northwest Dharma News, and they can co-sponsor Mahasangha events with other organizations. Together, we can fulfill the mission of supporting Buddhist teaching, practice, and community in our region. HERE is the link to become a Member Group.

Donate to NWDA as an individual or on behalf of a group

Your support helps secure the future of the NWDA’s website, the Northwest Dharma News, the Sangha Update, the Teachers Meetings, our Mahasangha events, and the conferences on arts, family, social action, chaplaincy, and other important areas of concern for Buddhist practice.  You can make a one-time donation, or make a donation that repeats every month or every year. HERE is the link for making a donation online.

Or you can also mail a check to:

If you have questions about donations, email us or call George Draffan at 206-941-4729.

Workplace Giving

Workplace giving is an easy and efficient way to make tax-deductible donations to charities through payroll contributions. NWDA has received donations through workplace giving from the State of Washington Combined Fund Drive (including the University of Washington), the City of Seattle, Microsoft, etc. Because NWDA is a 501(c)3 recognized charity, we qualify for gifts through your workplace. Please have your employer contact us for registration.

Donate Securities

Donors may give appreciated marketable securities rather than cash. This is an attractive method of giving because of substantial tax advantages:

  • Donors can receive a charitable income tax deduction.
  • Donor avoid paying tax on the capital gain of selling the securities.
  • If the securities have been owned for more than one year, the donor may claim a tax deduction for the market value of the securities, as opposed to the purchase value of the securities.

To make a gift of securities, please contact us.

Planned Giving

Consider how you might leave a legacy extending beyond this lifetime. One method of planned giving is to remember NWDA in your will or trust. Other options might be annuities or designating NWDA as a beneficiary on one of your life insurance policies.

NWDA’s tax identification number is 94-3098029. You will want to discuss bequest language with your financial advisor or lawyer.

For more information on planned giving, please contact us.

Other Ways to Support the Community

Financial generosity is not the only gift, of course. NWDA depends on volunteer energy. The Board of Directors represent a cross-section of the regional Buddhist community, drawn from diverse traditions and lineages. We encourage anyone who feels s/he has the time and energy to consider becoming a member of the board.

Another way to help is to assist in large or small ways with NWDA events such as the Teachers’ Meetings, the Mahasangha gatherings, and conferences. For further information,  please contact us.
