Dharma Voices for Animals has a new chapter in Portland

Dharma Voices for Animals (DVA) is a nonprofit organization committed both to practicing the teachings of the Buddha and to speaking out when the actions of those in Dharma communities and the policies of Dharma centers lead to animal suffering. We want to be the voice of the animals who cannot speak our language. With the help of members and a global team of volunteers, DVA works to accomplish its mission by engaging in advocacy, education, and outreach efforts with Buddhists throughout the world.

The first Portland kickoff events in October and November encouraged people to awaken to climate change. Photos of both kick off events are posted on DVA Portland’s Facebook page.

They would love to hear from you about ideas for other PNW activities and if you can help us to grow our local visibility. If you have events and talks in which we can participate, please let them know. They also have copies of a trifold brochure and a video, Buddha and the Animals.

Portland chapter leader Sharon Methvin can be reached at sharon@dharmavoicesforanimals.org  You can join DVA’s Facebook page to post events and information that may be of interest. Help spread the word now that DVA has a local chapter in Portland!
