Northwest Dharma Association 2020 Finances

Written by: George Draffan

The 2020 pandemic was financially difficult for Northwest Dharma Association, as was the case for many other non-profit groups.

Our income remained virtually the same as the previous year, but we were able to reduce expenses primarily through the generosity of Timothy O’Brien, who declined to accept his stipend during most of his last year as NWDA administrator.

Timothy’s generosity allowed us to undertake some major website upgrades, while still ending the year with $8,975 in the bank. Thank you, Timothy!

With Timothy’s generosity in mind, it is our hope that others will increase donations this year and next, as the region emerges from the pandemic and as jobs rebound.

Your generosity will help your Northwest Dharma Association continue to produce the twice-yearly “Northwest Dharma News” and the twice-monthly “Sangha Update,” and maintain the online calendar and group directory. We also plan to restart in-person events such as the Regional Teachers Meetings and the Sangha Gatherings.

NWDA will always be a community-supported and volunteer-driven organization, but a part-time paid administrator is needed to keep everything running smoothly.

Whether you are one of our 193 member groups, or an individual subscriber to the “Northwest Dharma News” and “Sangha Update,” please help Northwest Dharma  Association continue to support Buddhist teachings across the region! Your generosity is the heartbeat of all that NWDA does.

You can donate online at our website NorthwestDharma.org. Or please send checks to  Northwest Dharma Association, 4619 South Willow Street, Seattle WA 98118-3642.
