Faith Community Climate Letter Sign-On
The various 350.org-affiliated groups throughout Washington State (including Eastside, Tacoma, Olympia, Spokane, Bellingham, and Seattle) are partnering to bring a focus on climate action during the short 2018 legislative session in Olympia.
We are asking members of impacted and concerned communities to sign on to letters describing the consequences of climate change and the need for fast and meaningful action.
Letters will be delivered to all members of the legislature in mid-February. If you would like to add your name to the letter, please fill out the information here. If you have questions, please contact meg@350seattle.org.
LETTER FROM FAITH LEADERS AND FAITH COMMUNITIES
To Members of the Washington State Senate and State House of Representatives:
As faith leaders in Washington State, we are writing to urge you to take immediate action on climate during this legislative session. We can, and must, move our state to 100% renewable energy within the next decade, and put an end to the building of new fossil fuel infrastructure.
There is no doubt that climate change has become one of the defining moral issues of our times. It causes us to reckon with both our personal and collective finitude — will we leave a world that others can live in? A world in which our children, ourselves, our neighbors near and far, can continue to sustain hope for a better future?
