August 18 – Buddhist Global Relief – Portland Walk to Feed the Hungry
Please join us on Saturday, August 18, for the second annual Walk to Feed the Hungry in Portland, OR!
This beautiful opportunity for compassion in action will raise awareness and funds to support Buddhist Global Relief’s efforts to end chronic hunger and malnutrition in the US and around the world. This year we’ve also partnered with the Oregon Food Bank, and 10% of our donations will go to supporting their work to alleviate hunger in Oregon and Southwest Washington. Learn more about their work here.
Prior to the walk, reflections on compassion and generosity will be offered by Ajahn Sudanto, Abbott of the Pacific Hermitage, and Sakula, Spiritual Director of Portland Friends of the Dhamma (PFOD) at 1404 SE 25th Ave, Portland, OR 97214.
Our two-mile walk will proceed from PFOD east down SE Hawthorne Blvd. and back. The walk will proceed rain or shine (though rain is much less likely in August).
Kid-friendly activities will be provided at PFOD by Jessica Swanson, coordinator of PFOD’s Children’s Program, for our littlest participants who cannot make the walk with their parents. Please email Jessica with questions and to RSVP for the kid-friendly activities at http://www.pdxdhamma.org
