This half-day retreat will offer a supportive space for LGBTQIA+ practitioners to explore the theme of refuge. We’ll reflect on what it means to “take refuge” in the midst of personal and collective uncertainty—grounding in awareness, community, and the living world. The morning will include guided meditation, dharma teachings, and opportunities for reflection with others.
Kirsten Rudestam is an environmental educator, wilderness guide, and meditation teacher whose work explores (re)connection, resilience, and interdependence in the face of ecological and personal change. She holds a PhD in environmental sociology from UC Santa Cruz and has taught in academic, environmental, and nature-based meditation settings since 2002. A longtime practitioner in the Theravada tradition, she is authorized to teach by Gil Fronsdal and Andrea Fella and is a co-founder of the Sati Center’s Buddhist Eco-Chaplaincy Training Program.
