Alaska Suite – A fundraiser for Green Buildings Now

Seattle Insight Meditation Society (SIMS) is sponsoring a performance of Nelda Swiggett’s Alaska Suite to fundraise for Green Buildings Now (GBN), a project that SIMS Climate Action Group has signed on to as a partner. GBN is a fund to help decarbonize and transform energy systems from fossil gas to clean electric systems on the campus of Bethany United Church of Christ on south Beacon Hill. The campus is home to a number of BIPOC led organizations – including Got Green, as well as the church itself and a preschool. GBN is holding the work done with Bethany UCC as a starting point and its broader aim is to assist low-income households and entities in Seattle to transform to clean energy systems.

Alaska Suite, written and premiered in 2017, is a 90-minute multimedia performance about how the climate crisis is unfolding in Alaska. Please check out their website Alaskasuite.com  as well as the one for greenbuildingsnow.org.

The date for the event is May 15, 2022, a Sunday afternoon and will be held at Seattle First Baptist Church on First Hill in Seattle (1111 Harvard Ave, Seattle WA 98122).
