Sravasti Abbey
Description
Sravasti Abbey is an American Buddhist monastic community in the Tibetan tradition of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Twenty resident monks and nuns practice to enact the Abbey’s slogan: creating peace in a chaotic world. Our specific mission is to support a flourishing monastic community to learn, practice, and share the Dharma. Lay visitors are welcomed to visit and practice with the community. See the Events calendar for current offerings. Registration is required to visit, and all programs are freely offered. You can read about our Economy of Generosity.
Well-known Buddhist nun, teacher, and author Venerable Thubten Chodron founded Sravasti Abbey in 2003. We are located in rural Eastern Washington north of Spokane on 370 acres of beautiful meadow and forest lands. In addition to Venerable Chodron, our resident teachers include Geshe Damdul Namgyal and Venerable Sangye Khadro.
Check out the Vist section of our website to register and learn more about visiting. We love welcoming guests!
