The Seattle Betsuin Buddhist Temple is affiliated with the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-ha (True Essence of the Pure Land, Temple of the Primal Vow) in Kyoto, Japan. Jodo Shinshu is a Japanese Pure Land sect (Mahayana) founded by Shinran Shonin nearly 800 years ago.
Practice Schedule
Sunday Service at 10:00 a.m. immediately followed by:
– Youth program: Dharma School classes (preK-12th grade), Camp Fire, Scouts
– Adult programs: Dharma Exchange discussion, meditation, study groups
Book study group – first Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. (brown bag lunches welcome)
Meditation – Sundays 9:00 convenes in Memorial Hall Chapel, ends at 9:40 prior to service
