Port Townsend Meditation Center

Description

By creating an environment that plants and nurtures the seeds and deepens the roots of all meditative practices, The Port Townsend Meditation Center (to be known as Camas Meditation Hall, or Camas Hall) offers experiences in focused awareness. It is available to community health, education, and meditation groups for both local meetings and longer retreats and instruction. The Port Townsend Meditation Center qualifies as a tax exempt not-for-profit corporation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The PTMC is a valued attraction in a peaceful location on a hill overlooking a valley in the seaport town of Port Townsend. It is well-used by a wide variety of individuals and organizations including Fort Worden and other community groups, students at local schools, participants at Centrum events, and those looking for a peaceful contemplative setting.

The PTMC was established in recognition of the value of meditation to all in a world that is fast paced, complex, and increasingly difficult to navigate. Meditation, as has been demonstrated by ancient civilizations as well as modern neuroscientists, offers another way to experience our own humanity.

The board of directors includes Bill Porter (Red Pine), Walter Parsons, Pamela Sampel, Isaac Gardiner, Carolyn Law, and Tree Swensen.
