Dharma Drum Seattle Center

Description

We at DDMBA Seattle are part of a global network of Chan Centres and meditation groups affiliated with Dharma Drum Mountain, an organization founded by Master Sheng Yen (Shifu) (1930-2009). In 2006 Master Sheng Yen created a new Chan lineage, the Dharma Drum Lineage, which unites his transmissions from the Caodong and Linji lines. This new lineage inherits the wisdom of Buddhadharma and, at the same time, aims to make Chan practice accessible to modern people.

Nestled among the native Pacific Northwest Sitka Spruce and Douglas-fir, the Dharma Drum Seattle Center (DDSC) offers a calming space for participants to apply the teachings of Chan Buddhism and assimilate Buddhist compassion and wisdom into their daily lives.

The center offers a breadth of Buddhist practice programs to the public, including classes on Buddhism and beginner’s meditation, weekly meditation sessions, Buddhist services, book club, teen mindfulness workshop, holiday celebrations, and children’s summer camp.
