During his first visit to the Abbey since 2004, Geshe Gendun Samdup will teach the classic Buddhist text Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment by Jowo Atisha. The text contains the main points of the Buddha’s teachings on how to become enlightened, arranged in a step-by-step way. This style of text became known as “lamrim” in Tibetan Buddhism, meaning stages of the path to enlightenment.
Teachings will take place from 9:00 am – 10:30 am each day, with additional activities in the afternoon. In addition, on the morning of Saturday, May 17, Geshe Gendun Samdup will consecrate the Abbey’s newly built Buddha Hall.
Geshe Samdup actively serves Serkong Rinpoche (the second) and is the Administrator of Serkong Labrang in Dharamsala, India. He is well known for his ability to give inspiring teachings regarding classical Buddhist insights relevant to modern hectic life.
