The 35 Statements of Heartfelt Advice by the Tibetan master Drikung Dharmakirti is a foundational guide on cultivating Buddhist practice and ethical discipline. His emphasis is on making most of our precious life by relying on a qualified guru, maintaining vows, and being diligent in the practice.
Very Ven. Khenchen Konchok Gyaltsen is a prominent author and translator in the Drikung Kagyu lineage. Born near Tsari, Tibet he fled to India in 1959. He took full monastic vows in 1968 with Kalu Rinpoche. After completing study at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies in Varanasi, India he studied under master teachers including the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa, Khunu Rinpoche and the Dalai Lama. He completed a traditional 3 year retreat in 1978 in Ladakh under the guidance of Khyunga Rinpoche. After moving to the United States, he found the Tibetan Meditation Center, which later relocated to Frederick, Maryland. He also established numerous practice centers in the United States, Chile, Europe, and Asia. In 2001, he received the formal title as a Khenchen (Great Abbot) from HH Chetsang Rinpoche, the head of the Drikung Kagyu lineage. He authored and translated over a dozen books into English, including Great Kagyu Masters, Prayer Flags, and commentaries on foundational practices.
