Three Treasures Sangha – Summer Retreat Weekend July 11–12, 2026

Three Treasures Sangha (TTS) is hosting its annual personal retreat weekend (zenkai) on July 11–12, 2026. All TTS members and friends are encouraged to participate — in person or via Zoom, for the full weekend, part of it, or just for the talks.

Out-of-town attendees interested in the retreat are welcome to contact us for assistance with housing for Friday and Saturday nights.

Guest Speaker: Susan Murphy

This retreat we’re fortunate to have a perspective from guest speaker Susan Murphy, joining us from Australia via Zoom. The talk will take place on Sunday, July 12 at 4:00 pm

Susan Murphy is a teacher in the Diamond Sangha Zen tradition and the author of several books, including:

• A Fire Runs Through All Things: Zen Koans for Facing the Climate Crisis (recently published)

• red thread zen: humanity entangled in emptiness — previously enjoyed by the TTS book club

Here is a passage from A Fire Runs Through All Things:

Zazen is focused investigation of the mysterious nature of the self as it grows gradually transparent to what is, not by directing oneself toward something special, rather by just (just!) noticing and gently abandoning all alternatives to unadorned being, sitting, and breathing. It begins in sitting and grounding the mind in the bare fact of body and breath.

Simple. And so it takes all that we are, and for as long as we have while still above ground.
