Our grief is inseparable from our dharma and prayer, and this is more poignant than ever in the world today. Whether our concern and sorrow is related to loved ones, ourselves, or to the terrible situations so many are enduring across the globe, we need support and to know how to provide support for each other. Simple ritual and prayer create an environment in our minds and hearts that can nurture us through the most difficult times. Lama Choyang will discuss how we can rely on ourselves to provide solace and healing and how to integrate ritual into the process, drawing from her experience as a hospice chaplain and dharma teacher. This inclusive program will allow opportunities to speak and interact or to submit comments and/or questions.
Lama Choyang (Allison Rader) is a Tibetan Buddhist teacher who worked for five years as a chaplain with Hospice of Humboldt. Her root teachers are Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche and his Dzogchen lineage holder, Lama Drimed Norbu. She completed seven years of retreat under Lama Drimed’s guidance and was ordained by him in 2009. Lama Choyang teaches dharma, leads retreats, and offers grief counseling, grief workshops, and spiritual mentoring in Arcata, CA, and online.
