This is it! The first issue of the new Northwest Dharma News! And, yes...it’s electronic. There are many advantages to the News in this form. It is much more economical. It saves labor, costs, and environmental resources. The print version required much time and labor on the part of those gathering and editing the contents. Publishing and mailing costs were high.
We’re proud of this first issue. Using computer technology, we can design and produce a beautiful color publication that presents the diversity of the Buddhist community throughout the region in an appealing and informative way.
We recognize that some people prefer to read their News in print rather than on the screen. We’ve designed the News to be downloaded and printed for that reason.
We hope that we can publish the electronic version more frequently than we did the print version. We hope you will think about contributing articles, images, and ideas for future issues. The News is intended to report on recent events of interest throughout the region. We invite contributions. In fact, we rely on them.
There is a team of dedicated volunteers who coordinate the News that we invite you to join. We need people in the outlying areas of the region who are willing to communicate with Buddhist groups and individuals there for articles of interest for the News. If you are reading this in Idaho, Montana, Alaska, or British Columbia, or in a rural setting, please think about contributing. This is our way to get to know each other.
