Cloud Mountain’s New Executive Director

Cloud Mountain Retreat Center in Castle Rock, Washington recently selected Denis Martynowych as its new Executive Director. Active for many years with the Buddhist Peace Fellowship Seattle Chapter and the Seattle Insight Meditation Society, Denis is a planner by profession. An avid bicycle commuter, he is strongly committed to environmental and social justice issues.

He commented on his new position this way:

I am excited to let you know that I will be the Executive Director of the Cloud Mountain Retreat Center starting in early October.

I have been practicing insight mediation for over a decade and have been going to retreats at Cloud Mountain for the past four years. My appreciation of the value of meditation and mindfulness continues to deepen. Being the next Executive Director of Cloud Mountain Retreat Center is a natural progression of this involvement and a truly unique and timely opportunity I could not pass up.

My work at the University of Washington for the past 19 years was about creating space for faculty and students to learn and discover new knowledge. My position at Cloud Mountain Retreat Center is about creating space for teachers and students discovering and becoming more aware of themselves and their relationship to others. I will also be engaged in shaping programs that help increase diversity and relevance. It is exhilarating to know that this position will utilize every bit of my skills and invite me to stretch and develop new ones.
