Nitartha’s Summer Institute

Nitartha’s Summer Institute Joins Mahamudra Meditation and Buddhist Studies!    Join us for a month-long program that is divided into three 9-day sessions, which can be taken in-person, online, or both!   Nitartha’s Summer Institute features courses taught by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, Mahamudra meditation practice and instruction, and a 9-day silent Mahamudra retreat with Acharya Lama Tenpa Gyaltsen.   Our exceptional and highly engaging professors will also teach three levels of study: Mind and Its World, Madhyamaka, and Cittamatra&Buddha Nature. Concentration or serenity meditation (samatha) is one of three major practices of the Buddhist path, which also includes sila and vipassana. In concentration practice, we return awareness to one object of meditation to the exclusion of everything else, unifying the mind stream. Carol Wilson first began practicing Vipassana or Insight meditation in 1971, with S.N. Goenka, in Bodh Gaya, India. Since then she has studied and practiced with a number of Theravada teachers, both Asian and Western. She has been particularly influenced by the teachings and practice styles of Sayadaw U Pandita, and in the past ten years, of Ashin U Tejaniya.
