This three day retreat is open to everyone. It’s at a lakeside retreat center (Gwinwood Christian Camp & Conference Center) in Lacey, WA. This year it will be led by Khenpo Jampa of Sakya Monastery in Seattle. Loppon Jamyang Tsultrim, founder and director of Nalanda Institute in Olympia, will translate and assist. The retreat theme is “Training the Mind, Changing our Self”, and it will feature instruction and practice on “open awareness style” shamatha, vipassana, and application of Buddhist principles to daily life. It starts Friday afternoon, and ends Sunday before lunch. Cost covers 2 night lodging and 5 meals. Bring: bedding and usual overnight essentials (see information on Nalandaolywa.org website). Cushions and chairs will be available. The lake and woods provide a conducive atmosphere; breaks will allow private walks. Our retreats provide a welcoming environment for both practice and dharma friendships.
