Tibetan Community, and supporters, Peacefully March in Support of Tibetan Rights

Local Tibetan people and supporters marched from Sakya Monastery to Seattle’s Westlake Mall Feb. 22, in support of Tibetan people struggling for self-determination in Tibet. The event coincided with Losar, the Tibetan New Year.

The event started with offerings for His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Sakya Dagchen Rinpoche at Sakya Monastery, and then the marchers walked seven miles south to Westlake Mall, in downtown Seattle.

At the speakers’ area in Westlake Park, several Tibetan leaders described the difficulties faced by their people in Tibet. The event was organized by the Tibetan Association of Washington, and supported by the Buddhist Peace Fellowship, among others.
