4-Week Class Series from Thursday April 20 – May 11, 2017 (6:30-8:00 PM)
Mindfulness is paying attention to what’s happening in the moment with kindness.
This class helps teens bring this kind awareness to their experience – both the external pressures and difficulties they face at school and in social settings, and the stress and self-criticism that can arise internally. Teens will learn ways to cultivate greater compassion for themselves and others, and stay centered through rapidly changing emotions and life experiences. They’ll walk away with practical exercises they can do throughout the day or in a difficult moment.
The class will be a mix of mindfulness meditation instruction and exercises, light movement, and discussion. The class is appropriate for those new to mindfulness practices as well as those with some experience. To learn more about the class, check out the Facebook event page!
Seattle Insight Meditation Center welcomes and encourages participation by teens of all races, genders, abilities, and financial means.
This class is intended for high school teens, ages 14-19, who have clearly chosen to attend. A parent permission form is required for teens under 18. You may obtain the form at your first class or download the form by clicking this link: Parent Permission Form
The suggested donation for the class series is $25, plus teacher dana. (Dana is a term for generosity, or freely offered giving.) Teacher dana can be offered at the event. Please use your best efforts to pay the suggested donation or another heartfelt amount. All are welcome regardless of ability to pay. Checks can be made payable to SIMS (Seattle Insight Meditation Society) and brought to your first class.
