Evening talk and daylong workshop with Ven. Thubten Chodron
Ven. Chodron also speaks at the Maitripa College graduation on Sunday, June 4
If you could talk to the President about how to run this country, what would you say?
Second century Indian Buddhist philosopher Nagarjuna had the opportunity to teach a king. His advice on how to govern with wisdom and compassion is recorded in his beautiful text, A Precious Garland of Advice for a King. In addition to teaching the way to good rebirth and the highest attainment, Precious Garland gives an inspiring early example of Buddhist advocacy on social policies.
Venerable Thubten Chodron draws from Nagarjuna’s text to bring forth practical advice for all of us on how to put our values into action and bring benefit now and in the long-term. She teaches from her latest book, Practical Ethics and Profound Emptiness: A Commentary on Nagarjuna’s Precious Garland by Tibetan scholar Khensur Jampa Tegchok.
Join her to explore how to take your spiritual practice off the cushion to create peace from within and without in a chaotic world.
Friday: Public Talk – 7-9 pm
Saturday: Daylong Workshop – 10 am-12 pm & 1:30-4 pm
