A retreat with the Sravasti Abbey Community
Developing Compassion in Challenging Times explores the topics and methods of meditation that help us keep our cool with open hearts when times are hard. Good for beginners and experienced meditators.
His Holines the Dalai Lama teaches that compassion provides the basis of human survival. “Compassion and love are not a luxury.,” he said. “As the source both of inner and external peace, they are fundamental to the survival of our species.”
The more challenging the times, the greater the need for compassion—both for our own peace of mind and as our contribution to the world around us. But how do we develop it?
First we need to know precisely what it is, its advantages, its causes, and the exact steps for developing it. Compassion has the power to transform our lives. Compassion has the power to change the world.
Spend a weekend with the nuns and monk at Abbey monastic learning how to nurture and grow the seeds of compassion that already exist in our own hearts.
