Seattle Insight Meditation Society

Description

Our ongoing Monday evening sangha begins with a 40-minute meditation, followed by dharma talk or discussion. Tim Geil and Tuere Sala are our guiding teachers. Seattle Insight hosts many visiting teachers, such as Sharon Salzberg, Norman Fischer,  Venerable Pannavati and Phillip Moffitt. See our website, seattleinsight.org for introductory classes, retreats and special events. The website has video and audio talks by founding teacher, Rodney Smith, visiting teachers and our local Dharma Leaders teachers – including our weekly Dharma Talks.

Practice Schedule

Seattle Insight Meditation Society Monday weekly Sangha and Meditations are a hybrid of meeting in-person at University Friends Meeting House and via Zoom.

UFM has lifted all COVID restrictions. UFM will be developing infection control guidelines in the near future. While more specifics are coming soon, we believe that what we’re encouraging now will keep those in attendance safe and enable you to be physically in sangha with a degree of personal comfort.

We will not collect contact details from in-person attendees. Instead, we encourage you to download the WA Notify app on your smartphone.
We will immediately discontinue use of the liability waiver. You will not need to register in advance to attend a Monday night sit.

Please read and be aware of UFM’s new security guidelines below if you plan to come in person.

COVID-19 Guidelines

All are welcome to attend our in-person events. Mask wearing is encouraged if the following conditions exist:

  • you have not been vaccinated
  • you have any respiratory symptoms
  • you are immuno-compromised (or are in a household with someone who is immune-compromised)
  • you are in a household with children under age 12
  • you are simply more comfortable wearing a mask for any reason

See our summary of all of current SIMS online Zoom events.

6-Week Introductory Meditation classes are offered 4 times a year on 6 consecutive evenings at Seattle Insight Meditation Center.

Morning drop-in meditation sessions and many regular evening neighborhood groups are also offered – including a monthly online BIPOC Sangha — see our website for the complete neighborhood groups calendar.

Please see the Ongoing Practice Support page for opportunities of ongoing dharma practice for other locations and neighborhoods.
